Maudsley family therapy also known as family-based treatment (FBT). FBT is a type of family therapy, where the patient and the family visit the therapist together. FBT differs from most family therapy approaches for eating disorders: FBT was originally designed for treating anorexia nervosa, is also manualized for bulimia nervosa. Most of the research for FBT has been done with adolescents.

You can attend privately, and some Health Funds offer a rebate. Please check with your Health Fund Provider if you are eligible to receive rebates for therapy services.

Some people may choose to get a Mental Health Care Plan that will entitle them to Medicare Rebates on psychology individual and some group therapy services.
If you obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan (formerly known as a Mental Health Care Plan) from your GP or Psychiatrist, you are entitled to up to 10 sessions per calendar year with a Medicare rebate. The rebate is at least $87.20 for a 50 - 60 minute appointment or more if you have reached your safety net. Your doctor may initially refer you for a course of 6 sessions, with the potential for further sessions upon review.
It is not a requirement that you obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan in order to attend GBY (Guided By You) Therapy. You can attend privately, and some Health Funds offer a rebate. Please check with your Health Fund Provider if you are eligible to receive rebates for psychology services. Please note that you cannot make a claim through Medicare and your Health Fund simultaneously.

Any reduced rate must be discussed and agreed upon prior to your booked appointment.
Yes, providing at least 48 business hours notice to cancel an appointment helps us to keep your session costs down, maximises our availability to clients and minimises lost clinical time. Appointments missed or rescheduled without 48 hours notice will incur the full fee which you must pay prior to your next scheduled appointment. It is important to note that Third Party funders do not pay late cancellation or missed appointment fees. These are your responsibility even if your treatment is normally funded by a Third Party.
If you provide us with a mobile number or email address a reminder message will be sent the day before your appointment. This is a courtesy reminder only. If for any reason you did not receive a reminder message and missed your appointment, you will still need to pay the late missed appointment fee. If ever in doubt, please feel free to telephone to confirm an appointment.
